Jacob's Pillow Project

" A pillow of their own"

A project to provide homeless and foster children their own pillow, book and a stuffed animal to sleep with and feel more secure at night.

Most of us carry our pillow on trips because we know the hotel pillow will be too hard, or too soft.  Imagine not owning a pillow to carry at all.  Now, imagine a child having to sleep on a different pillow every night or no pillow at all.  There are a lot of children out there that are homeless, due to unfortunate circumstances.  Children deserve to have a soft place to rest their head on at night, something that gives them comfort, something that is their own and doesn't have to be left behind.

Eight year old, Jacob wanted to start a pillow project for those very children.  Children who live in shelters, in foster care or even in a car.  He wants them to know that there is hope and that our community cares about them.

His idea is to provide the children with a new pillow and a character pillowcase, a book and a stuffed animal to go along with it.  He knows how it feels to have his own pillow to lay his head on at night, a book to read and a stuffed animal to hold on to.  He started his project by collecting and selling toys at a yard sale and using the money to start buying his pillows, books and stuffed animals.  His grandmother's are sewing pillow cases and his parents are handling all the program details, along with Jacob's help, of course.  Jacob made his first donation to The Providence House in July and after seeing what a great project this is, he has decided to keep making donations to the area shelters and foster care programs.
